Default Satyrium crassicaule

This species is widespread in Sub-Saharan Africa from 1,850 masl and above. Here in Kenya it grows mostly in swap like conditions in full sunshine, and even needs to stand out, i.e. without crawling vegetation around/on it, but grasses are fine and often amongst the grasses you afterwards will also find Cynorkis anacamptoides nearby.

The below specimen was introduced in the garden here about 10 years ago with a generous chunk of original soil attached to it, grows in swamp like conditions, and flowers about twice a year, but with no fixed schedule. No noticeable scent.
