Great, thanks for all the help!

Good growing! Have fun! Your challenge will be to imitate a Mediterranean climate where you live... I'm spoiled, it's easy for me because I live in one.
They are all potted up and ready to grow! They were just barely sprouting when I got them should I water now or wait until the leaves reach the surface? The media is just ever so slightly damp from the cactus mix I used.
If they are sprouting, go ahead and start watering lightly. Once they break the surface, you can increase the watering.
I'm holding back on mine, just misting to mimic dew, since I'm not done with hot weather yet though nights are cooling off, will likely start watering more in a few weeks. But if you have reliable coolness, they're ready. |
Sounds good! Thanks a bunch!
---------- Post added at 09:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:49 PM ---------- The lows here are in the high 30s and low 40s, and we had a frost recently. I'm a little cautious to put them outside all at once, perhaps it would be best to put them in a cool windowsill (lows should be 60ish, maybe 50s later in winter) for now? |
They can easily go down into the 40's, 50's are OK. They'll be wanting coolish days ... my winter highs are mostly in the mid to high 60's F with a few warmer days, winter lows in the low 40's, with occasionally dipping to the mid to high 30's . But that 's why I'm waiting a bit... I'm still getting days in the mid 80's F, and could still get a serious hot spell, so waiting for days to reliably stay below 80 F and nights in the lower 60's
Sounds good, I'll leave them out tonight, maybe in in the morning since its getting pretty warm still, once winter really sets in conditions should be perfect on my windowsill.
It sounds like you might be pushing it to leave them out when it's that chilly (since they haven't had time to acclimate). At this stage, as long as days are mild, don't worry about the lows being too warm. As winter takes hold, your cool windowsill will be perfect. (You probably won't be dealing with 90 deg F days... I still expect a few)
ah alright, I was wondering if that might be the case, its warmish now so I'll leave them out to cool off just a little before bringing them in when I go to bed. Thanks again for all the help!!
