Quick update.
Sad things happened.
We had a heatwave.. temperatures reached way higher than normal.
There was 4 solid days of 110+.
We hardly ever go above 95.
One of retrocalla killed off 4 roots.
The lepanthes blasted all its buds and 3 spikes. The schoenorchis lost a leaf and the roots took a hit.
And very sadly. The trichosalpinx has all but died.
I don't think the rock could wick water effectively that high up in such heat.
I'm so sorry TommyMiami!
I watered and sprayed as much as possible. But it wasn't enough.
The Pluerothallis you sent is doing amazingly though.

I hear you on the heat, we had horrible summer here in Florida too, I do not remember in 13 years living here to have temps over 100F for weeks and weeks, and they said we had yet again "unusual" hot summer after "unusual" rainy last year and than "unusual" cold winter fronts, so it seems everything is now "unusual" with weather in Florida, when I started to grow orchids :-))) I am sorry to hear about Tricho, but they do hate drying out, so I can see it happening. I am glad that Pleurothallis is doing great! I hope your chids will recoup, orchids are huge fighters and sometimes they can wake up from near death :-) Keep us posted!

Sorry to hear about the nasty heat wave. Retrocalla is a real hardy plant. If it still has some roots, leaves, and it's growth meristem tissue, it should come back for you. I'm not familiar with the others you have, but agree with Tommy that orchids are fighters for survival.

Thank you.
The heat. Maybe if I had air conditioning I might've been able to save it.
But it was awful.
So sorry about the tricho.
I'm cultivating moss everywhere to prevent future mishaps.
Everything else seems to be recovering.
I am super sad about the lepanthes spikes.

Tapatalk won't let me multi quote today!
It's ok. The first day of the heatwave is really what did it in. It was unexpected, and i had the light on which really did a number.
It was possibly close to 120 in there the first few hours.
After that the light ran only late at night through early morning.
The retrocalla that killed off its roots must have some I can't see cause it's bud is still swelling.

It is. It went from mild and 85. To 115 in about an hour.
Record temps for me.
I was out, the light was on. And the light raises the temperature in there by about 5 degrees.

BUMMER! Your display was such a vision each time I viewed it. Hopefully whatever is viable will take hold but finding replacements is always fun. Keep us updated.

Haha did I make it sound like everything died?
For the temps they endured they are doing quite well.

Update.
The astrophora is fine. The lepanthes is fine sans the blasted spikes.
The pluero has grown 5 new growths in 5 directions.
The retrocalla that killed roots has a happy bud.
The top of the rock took the biggest hit. The tricho died. The fragrans has lost two leaves and now has one root.
