Beautiful orchids and thanks for sharing your collection! Fish and orchids just seem to go so well together. I'd love to eventually have a koi pond with my orchids someday.

Though I would love to take credit for all the blooms, more than half of them were purchased in spike or bud. My reblooming ratio has certainly imnproved, but not THAT much yet - LOL!!!

I agree! Ideally, I would love to have an outdoor pool, with a pretty waterfall, and orchids growing all around that ... maybe someday, when I live in a REAL orchid climate!!

Beautiful set up and plants. I used to be a Michigander too. Couldn't take the winters, though!

I'm a transplant - I hate the winters, not real fond of the state in general! Sort of fell into a situation, and here I am. My heart is set on one last move - to FL, as soon as I can make that happen!!

I also grow in windowsills with no artificial light (and outdoors) - nothing wrong with finding plants that you can grow in the conditions you have!

I agree! In fact, in ways, it's a good thing! Most often, I see the glass as half full.

If you can find room for a hanging basket a Stanhopea or Gongora would work with your lighting

Your set-up looks great. And, being in a similarly less-than-ideal climate, I can appreciate what you have to do to keep your orchids growing and blooming. Also, in my opinion the term novice is relative. Having a limited number of plants makes you no more of a novice than having thousands makes a commercial grower an expert. It all depends on how well you do with what you have and what your goals may be.

Thanks to everyone's kind comments and support! I do call myself a novice, because I am not savvy with all the terminology and information that "serious" orchid growers use and are aware of. For instance, I only learned what "peloric" meant, 3 days ago! I honestly have learned by committing mistakes, to a fair degree. Yes, I read - though only recently have I purchased a couple of very good books that are recent in publication. I peruse orchid forums, and I ask questions of people I buy my plants from. Each time I learn something, I can't help but believe it's just another tip of the iceberg - LOL! I love to learn, though, and figure I won't ever be "done". Hoping to pick a few brains, as I get to know people a little bit.
