Bud - I would use distilled water or at the least, if you have an ice maker in your fridge that filters the water before making ice cubes, I would use dissolved ice cubes or invest in a water filter that fit on the spigot of the kitchen sink. I don't know how much you know about the South Florida swamp, they are not the murky swamps of Louisiana and Georgia, filled with tannins from decaying leaf litter. They are actually crystal clear, having been filtered on their way south and fairly fast moving, feeding into the everglades and finally out to the Gulf of Mexico.

That is absolutely incredible! It looks even better than the rainforest glass setups you find in museums! I love all the details down to the moss on the log and the carpet of dried leaves. The orchids in there must feel like they're in heaven!

Thanks for the compliments everyone. A few people on other forums asked for a plant list, so here is what I have so far orchid wise.

Haraella Retrocala
Bulb. Cocinnum
Angraecum Didieri
Cirrhopetalum Fascinator
Pleurothallis Grobyi
Bulb. Makoyanum
Leptotes Bicolor
Cirr. Pulchellum
Masdevallia Wendlandiana
Masd. Floribunda
Cirr. Lepidum
Aerangis Biloba
Pen. Lichenastrum v. Prenticei
Dendrobium Puginoformis “dorrigo”
Sophronitis Brevipedunculata
Rodriguezia Odtusifolia
Bulb. Longissimum
Phal. Parishii
Bulb. Longoflorum
Bulb. Wendlandianum
Pluerothallis Megalops
Macodes Petola

Orchids to add this week...
Epidendrum Porpax

WOW! this is nice. I recently set up something similar but not quite as artistic. IN the water in mine I have azolla, a water fern growing and it stops the algae. I also have some cryptocoryne and a anuibus 'nana' growing emergent and they seem to help too.

WOW!!! I just watched a few of your videos, and I am totally jealous! How much in total did it cost you to make this little slice of Nature? Oh, I would love to have one, but I am way too unskilled and poor to make my own!

Thanks for the compliments everyone. It has grown in nicely since the first pics were taken, and I also added a bunch more bromeliades. I also drained the water section and covered the ADA Aquasoil with additional leaves. For breeding season I will flood the tank for a few months, but other then that it will remain dry.

I will post some pics in a few days. My Masd. Floribunda has half a dozen or so flowers right now. I also had the Sophronitis Brevipedunculata flower, and my Haraella Retrocalla should have a flower open up within a couple days. I'll try getting a timelapse video of it opening

I also added 2 frogs yesterday, and wow are they in heaven lol

Grimm you are everywhere man, and I never get tired of seeing your work. This is about the 10th forum I have seen The Peninsula on and I'm always noticing something different each time. I like how you push the boundaries and go outside of the box on your builds. Very nice. I wish I had your skill set (and endless supply of finances) to create builds like you do. Once again very nice build.

Haha I gotta try and get my name out there if I plan to someday work for a company that does this proffesionally. I think I have it posted on 5 forums, but Im sure some people have linked it from youtube on other forums. And haha, I dont have endless supply of finances at all. I saved up for like 10 months so I could build the tank, and Im pretty good with money in the first place.

Sorry for the lack of update. Ive been busy taking flower/plant growth timelapses. One of the 3 haraella retrocalla flowers opened this week. I also have 3 flower stalks from my pleurothallis grobyi about to bloom. To bad I'll be out of town and most likely miss the bundle of flowers open
