Too bad about losing your job. I went through the same thing not long ago and it was absolutely awful. I'm sorry you're having to go through that.
When I got laid off I found it very helpful to stay focused on things that really mattered - and to
try and not get too caught up with worrying about finding work (or worrying about what I would do if I couldn't find work). Anyway, I didn't have my orchid addiction then, but my regular plant fetish definitely helped me stay sane. Just try to remember that work is not who you are, and that family, friends, and plants (
) are more important in the long run. By the way, your remaining orchid collection looks great - much more impressive than my beginner shelf.
Another piece of advice that I really appreciated was to treat the 'Job Search' like a normal job. The idea being to spend 8 hours a day looking for a new job, and then to stop thinking about it. So after 5:00pm, don't worry about looking for work. Easier said than done, I know, but the idea is to spend time with your loved ones (or whatever) and try to not stress out about some stupid job (or lack of job). In any case, I'm sorry that you're in this tough spot, and I'm looking forward to seeing photos of your restored orchid collection when you get back on your feet.
