Default Temporary winter shelter

This is where all the 'chids go when the temps are going to drop at night. We have clear hurricane shutters up creating a wall on 2 sides, the glass sliders make up the third side and if it's going to get really cold, we cover the fourth side with a heavy tarp. The heat coming through the glass doors seems to be enough to keep them happy overnight and for those very few extra cold nights, I have a heater with a thermostat to use. I haven't had to use it yet but it's here

Looks like you have a great temp set-up, was thinking last night when I heard the temps were going lower than what chids like as to what you were going to do. Just the other day I sold a gentlemen 7 copper outdoor 8 ft. heaters for his "orchid" greenhouse, well over 500 he said. I see the difference with myself having mine in home and the likes of not having to do much to keep them warm but the hates of the convenience for the outdoor watering and sunning effect...the pro's and con's of our love for orchids. Nice job

On occasion, the night temps dip to low 40's or sometimes high 30s. It doesn't happen often, and the season doesn't last long but temps that low are enough for me to worry about the 'chids

I guess you could say Spring in Seattle would be our cold. It does not really get to bad here but it's what your use to and as for jackets, just bought my first one, it's a thick one... Hey it did snow here in Orlando in 1990 or 1991, it was a blast making barbie snow balls...

It'll be nice to have my sunroom done! With this system, it's a lot of work moving them in and out. The days are in the 70s and sunny so at least the vandas get moved out to the sun in the mornings.

You guys are just babies It's going down to 15 degrees as a low here. We have about a foot of snow with 2-3 inches new stuff every night. Orchids outdoors here (even with a greenhouse) wouldn't work.

LOL Sue!!!! Don't Cry.
Ross would probably think of NY as the tropics.

Is there really no way to heat up a greenhouse in your clime Ross?
With the move by Nasa to setup a permanent station in the moon by 202ish, I was imagining some sort of Greenhouse on the moon, heat powered by the sun/garbage burning(all the garbage they can pick up here on earth).
