Why do the botanists always have to change the names??

I found this out about Holcog amesiana - Holcoglossum amesiana aka Vanda amesiana
This is a member of the vanda family with a wide temperature range, but actually preferring it on the cool side with strong light. Can be grown out-of-doors with cymbidiums in temporate climates. If you grow in the house or greenhouse, find a nice cool place. VERY powerful fragrance - some say gardenia, jasmine, or mock orange. A must for fragrance nuts.
Intermediate to cool - Intermediate to Cool; 52°F min. to 80°F max. As per Andy's ...

For the Cisch dasyandra: it was removed from the list because it's more of a warm grower, not a size issue. Plant gets to be 10-11", which is an "iffy" size for the project but not totally out of the question.
Orchidwiz says: temps of 80 daytime and 63 nights. Many of our cool location members may not be able to accomplish that.
I would LOVE a Comparettia but in our previous projects, they weren't available in the US!

Just a thought...Could we put the Cish in the "plants we liked but for one reason or another will not work for our project" section of the list? After all, it is available everywhere, and we could discuss the 'warm' issue with the cooler growing participants and decide where we go from there.

It's already listed there
We can take a look at some of those in our chat discussions and threads BUT I know from previous experience that folks get nervous about getting any plant that has a different temp zone than they are used to...and they get discouraged and drop out of the project.
I don't really want to be such a stickler on this point but I really feel it's important to keep the temp guide I've described as our guideline...
...that's not to say I can't be talked into it
