Whoa RG your plant's leaves are huge too! You got a big one!
Can't wait to see your little spike bloom, I feel like it's going to be really nice.

I hope so! I'm really excited to see what it does! I'm not having great luck with the podangis dactyloceras. It's not dead yet, but it's not thriving. The den. cucumerinum throws new cukes for me all the time and grows tons of new roots. I'd like to see that one bloom too!

late to the game
Hello everyone! I know I'm late to the party, but I just received an Amesiella Monticola from Hauserman's yesterday. I was window shopping online and fell in love with this and a phal. kaoda twinkle. I got both in spike.
I was having trouble finding care info for the Amesiella and found you all here in this project! I just spent the last couple hours reading through the whole thread and really learned a lot.
I'm a little concerned because my Amesiella doesn't have much media and dried out overnight. However, it doesn't seem to have super good drainage either. The pot only has two holes in the bottom and there is a root blocking one. I'm afraid to repot though because I don't want to lose the spike. Maybe I will place some sphag loosely in there. For now I have it sitting on a humidity tray. I ordered a humidity/temp gauge to monitor all my orchids now that the winter (heater) months are upon us.

Welcome......Very nice plant. You can surely push a little spaghnum in to the empty spots. You could also try putting it into a small fish bowl (or other container ) as I did. It does keep the humidity a little higher. I just keep lava rock in the bottom and keep water in the bottom with the pot on top of the lava rock so the pot doesn't sit in the water

I also got mine from Hausermann's. I think I did change the medium after I got it. The medium was really broken down, but mine came in fine bark and I repotted it into fine bark. I did not repot mine while it was in spike. I might leave it if you want to see the flowers and repot after the spike dies back. I think this orchid is okay with drying out overnight. Just water it a tad in the morning before you leave for the day. I don't do anything special for humidity other than the humidity tray and it seems perfectly happy with that.

I think I may just a bit of moss and wait to repot like suggested. I also may try the fishbowl idea during the winter months if I run my fireplace.
I can't wait to see when everyone gets flowers. I'm already feeling impatient and I just got the plant! I can't image how you all must feel

Nice plant. Good luck and I can't wait to see the blooms as well. I can't decide if I want to try it again or not.
