My nubbins have grown a tiny tiny bit. Below the spike I believe is a root as someone had mentioned in earlier posts. This orchid is a super slow spike grower it seems lol

Andy's has this identified with the Angraecums, I noticed. It does really remind me of one.

Yes it does, I hear some angraecums are notorious for being slow growers and for slow spike development. I still like them very much and have a few myself. The root in the sphagnum moss is doing great and makes me happy every time I check up on this orchid

Yes, some Angraecums are very slow. I have a nub started on my didieri and I think it is in a race with your monticola to bloom (ha ha). One of the reasons I love the leonis is that when it gets started, you don't have an eternity to wait. Every day I see some progress there. Then there is the distichum. The buds are so small that by the time you see them, they are ready to open.

Thank you, I have had some good and bad luck. The first spike stalled, then dried up and died. This second spike is doing well thank goodness.

It certainly is a very happy orchid so you must be giving it the right culture.
I thought it was time to post a picture of mine...not that it is doing anything special.

Spike is still growing on mine. I'm sure it's a spike but man is it slow! I'm just now seeing what I think is bud development. This spike started what, two months ago? I'm growing mine in natural sunlight and we are making the change from summer to winter here, so the light conditions are not as bright as they were and humidity is going to be more of an issue. I'm sure these are all factors.
