Mine grows very slowly, so yours may very well be swelling. Mine is in my bathroom and stays anywhere from 60s-80s depending on the day. I don't think it is enjoying the hotter days as much because it is looking slightly stressed (older leaves wrinkling but it could just be their time).

Mine still shows no sign of spiking, but it does have the tiniest nub of a new root growing. Any growing is good enough for me now. Maybe it will spike this winter with the cooler temps.

I lost one of the three, but the other two are bouncing back. I keep doing research on the in situ region and climate to make adjustments. I think I am getting better at it. They like my daily fogging into the terrarium. I think I might put a light above them to see if that will inspire growth.

This is the light I am thinking of for above the terrarium. A MOS member did a presentation on building a growth chamber and he grows incredible orchids in a "refrigerator" converted to a growth chamber. http://www.led-grow-master.com/files...ow-Lights2.pdf

I'm growing mine indoors, but the heat does go off at night. I think the lowest it gets to is 62 degrees. Mine is in a spot where I grow dendrobiums. It gets a lot of light. My Dendrobium Unicum is sitting beside it in bloom right now. Humidity doesn't seem to be a major issue for it. I'm not going out of my way to maintain humidity for it.

I'm not participating in this project, but I used to grow this plant and it does grow very very slow. I think it's the slowest growing orchid I have ever owned and all parts grow slow. Leaves, roots, and spikes. The flower nubs can stall too and start growing again. Good luck and I will follow along to watch for flowers! They are beautiful! I think I should get another one.

When I was at Marlow's Orchids yesterday Jim had one , in spike, I had to slap myself to keep from buying it . I'm determined to grow the one I have.

I often do buy multiples of favorite orchids but I am not tempted to get another of these. I like plants that are a bit more exciting than this. Since I moved the little orchid inside, it seems to have taken a break from root or leaf growth. The only thing that is happening now is that one of the bottom leaves is dying. Yay. Exciting. Maybe I will have to start dosing it with the kelp mixture once a month.

I agree with you on that one....waiting is hard enough for the ones that you can actually see the difference. This thing never moves.
Interesting point, everyone on OB says it's a cool grower, when I was at Marlow's yesterday we talked about it and he says it's a warm grower.
I have not really researched it myself, but you have to wonder........
I did research my new Max. tenuifolia, and one website tells you to keep it wet, very wet ; and other sites tell you it likes to dry out between watering ??? How are you supposed to figure these things out ??

Cool and warm mean different things to different people in different climates with different growing conditions.

Hmmm interesting little nubbin. It's growing out right next to a root. Maybe it's a new root? It's right at the end of my fingernail in the photo. Also, the nubbin which I am 90% sure it's a spike has maybe a root growing right next to it? This orchid is definitely one of my most interesting orchids
