Sorry to hear. I hope mine will make it. I tried putting it under the lights but the roots became too dry so it has moved to a window.

I have mine in a fish bowl with lava rock and water in the bottom. It still is alive, but I won't say thriving. It's still under the t-5s and I am wondering if it is just too hot for it. It is still getting up to 80 F in the daytime under the lights , and is only getting down to 60F overnight. Maybe a window is the way to go.

I think it's definitely worth trying...

I'm out. Mine died. Was in a terrarium and I thought I had done all the right things.

I have one Kool log left and am thinking about mounting it. It is doing a wee bit better in the terrarium, but not as well as I would like. I'm going to pull it out and inspect it when the sun comes up.

I didn't realize it was such a cool grower, so now it's outside, fish bowl and all. It's been going down into the 40s F at night and 60s during the day. The problem out there is getting enough light without burning it.

Mine's doing well. I'm fairly sure that it's in spike. I'll grab a couple of pics of it today. I have it growing in a window sill next to my masdies. For me, this is a plant that needs regular attention, so I can't grow it under lights. It won't stay wet enough, but my terrarium is way too wet for it. The compromise is turning out to be my kitchen windowsill. It's south facing. I water it every two or three days with tap water until there is water standing in the saucer under the plant. When that evaporates completely, I'll wait a day or so, then water again. I've fertilized it twice, I think.

I figured I would chime in here...

My plant has put out almost a complete leaf now and is sending out a spike WOOHOO

To tell you the truth, I feel bad. A lot of you have tried so hard with this plant and havent had good luck... I must have the perfect location. It doesn't get babied at all. I water it once a week in its two inch pot. It is currently in bark. I am wondering if it likes to be on the dryer side? Who knows.

I am also sorry to hear so many people are having issues with amesiella. Mine is still doing well but still no spike. How low are your temps of those of you that have spiking plants? This must be the time of year for them. I keep thinking my plant is swelling around the crown but I think it is wishful thinking. I am happy to report my new leaf though and it's alive!
