I'll take a photo tomorrow. I have a humidity sensor in the GH so I know what the relative humidity is as a base line.

Amesiella monticola (project 16 [main] - spring 2015)
Well my spike stalled so I have been checking this orchid everyday and I can positively say it's growing a new leaf. I guess it's doesn't want to spike I figured since it wasn't going to spike, I should go ahead and repot. It's in a net pot with small lava rock and a thin top layer of sphagnum moss. I put the net pot into a decorative container. 1st photo is the stalled spike and 2nd photo is the new leaf

Sorry about the double pics, I tried to edit it and this happened but the first two pics came out much clearer so I guess it was a good thing?

Yours looks great! So healthy and happy! I usually put everything in red lava rock or LECA so I am a little envious but with the way the roots are attached to the mount, there is no way I can safely remove it.
The bottom leaves on mine were turning a bit yellow so I added a little Ironite in the watering can and it is looking much better. One of the kids did knock it down but, thankfully, no damage.

New Leaf
Here are two pictures of my new leaf as well as roots that are showing. These are two different orchids, one inside and one outside.

Thanks Leafmite 😉 that lava rock, man, you just can't go wrong with it lol it's great. I get mine at Lowe's for only $3, a steal I think . Cntry, you have two, wow, I like that, how do you think they differ, in growing inside and outside? Any difference?

They are so cute that now I have to run out and check on my little one!
Lava rock is certainly a cheap way to grow orchids. I switched to LECA simply because I thought I was finished buying more orchids and only would need a small bag of something (the bags of lava rock I get for six dollars are huge!). I should have just gotten the lava rock with the way I am still buying orchids.

Hi Mandy I think the one inside is doing better then the one outdoors. Its has the new leaf and looks in better condition then the one that is outside. They were watered all at the same time as well as fertilized. Only thing different is the humidity as well as temp. I have the air on inside and outside it what ever temp we have for the day. Its been up and into the uppers 90s already this summer. Today was 70's during the day time so the temperature range is all over the place. They all been watered with rain water that I collect and use. We will see once fall comes and see what they do then. I will have to bring them all in then for the winter.
