I'm back!!
I see that we have some clear cut favorites, nice! I'll get to work on our list of finalists tomorrow, I just got back from the airport. I had a nice vacation at home, but it was thoroughly exhausting, in a good way.

I saw the entire family on Easter Sunday for a delicious meal. I was really glad to see my grandmother, because she is scheduled for major abdominal surgery in 2 weeks. She's 82 years old, and these almost yearly surgeries (the problem pops up over and over) are taking a toll on her, we even feared for her life last time. So I am happy to have been able to spend time with her and remind her how much I love her, just in case. Because I can't easily cover the 1000km home if there is an emergency.

Other than that, most of the time I was out in the yard and vegetable garden at my mother's, pruning everything that got damaged/ killed by the severe winter cold, and planted potatoes and peas for her. She injured her leg so can't do much around the yard.

Did you also had a drop of temps over easter in Lyon? Here it had been so warm the weeks before easter ht Y even put some cool tolerant plants outside... And suddenly ZAP! Freezing temps... My Coelogyne crisata got most flowers buds frozen... It was going to be a magnific blooming this year... :-(

Yes, it did get cooler in Lyon too especially sunday and today, and sunday night did go below freezing. But I live in a village in the beaujolais at 730m altitude and the climate is always cooler there, sometimes there is a 10°C difference with the city at night. Spring is 3 weeks behind up there, the trees are still mostly bare and the wisteria is only just putting out the panicles. Meanwhile they are already blooming in a village 5km away only 200m lower than ours!

Sorry you lost all your cristata buds!

Yay!! I was sifting through the staggering amount of emails I got while away (80% junk) and found a message from Dave (an admin). He couldn't fix the poll, but he can see who voted for what, and he sent me a screenshot of the list.
