Thanks, but don't worry about it! I would still have to double check everything, because often times people don't pay attention to the size of the plant (blooming size, seedling, etc). And I have my two sidekicks to which I can delegate work.

Hey, I was never suggesting every plant should involve currency exchange calculations: just pointing out that in real terms the US limit was lower than the EU one and therefore there was an argument for raising it.
I think we've established nobody's bothered enough to really want to change it though... as I said before, maybe something to think about before setting limits for the next project.
Glad you don't mind the work Camille! Going by what's on the front page though you have quite a lot to do, so I would not blame you if you called some kind of close quite soon! LOL

I am removing Pholidota chinensis from the list. I was double checking sizes and prices, and in Canada Cloud's has medium seedlings, and Orchids in Our Tropics (assuming their website is someone up to date) has it for $35

What do you mean 'in real terms'? As Ramon and I pointed out, exchange rates aside, EU and US orchid prices are quite similar overall. Not to argue, but I really don't see where you get this from.

I don't really want to be going on about this... but got it from exchange rates backed up by how many plants are being rejected as too expensive in the USA. Of those that are on the list with prices listed generally the US 'number' is a higher one.
Just promise me if you ever go to the States you won't just exchange 20 EU for $20 without checking exchange rates first... they are not the same.

Again, and please, let's stop the discussion as getting off-topic... Everybody has clear what the exchange rates are... And that $,€ and £ are different... The point is that the limit used for th project is the average prices for an orchid in EU zone, USA and Canada.. That's it... Simple as that! If the price of the suggested plant goes above the average in at least one of these regions, then it is out of the game for the project!

Again, if we raise the price limit the amount of plants become huge. Plus, if we raise the US limit, it raises all others because if we happen to choose an plant that is $25 it'll be more expensive for others.
It's about availability. We have lots available so it's generally cheaper than anywhere else. Just the way it is. We have a list of almost 20 plants to choose from. I just don't see why it's an issue.

I will say one last thing, and leave it at that, because I don't think you understand what I'm saying. Exchange rates do not matter one bit for the project, because EU people are NOT buying their plants in the USA and vice versa. When you purchase anything at all in the UK, are you comparing it to the price in the USA? Of course not, because it doesn't matter to you!

I agree it's not really an issue...
But if '20' was the average in every zone, then generally a plant costing '15 in the US would cost '15' in the others. Generally on the list we have it's costing a lower number in the other areas. We'd also expect rejections on price basis to be evenly spread between the three zones. In fact my impression is that rejections are happening because the 'number' in the US is too high (have there been any rejections for high EU price?).
Again, something for future projects, because we are indeed getting plenty of plants as it is.

Don't think this is a fitting place to discuss the requirements of the project. They have already been set so let's just go with what it is.
I don't know about anyone else, but I think the cheaper the better, and if we have a huge list (such as the one we have) that can be acquired for $20 or less (before shipping) why raise the price, add more candidates, and probably end up paying more then we would if the price mark was kept at $20 USD?
