We would have just ten if we remove the 4 in question.
We also have 3 Cochleanthes on the tentative list to be discussed...and none of them are available in Brazil

We need to start adding new prospects

In our last project, we did have one or two people who were unable to get the winning plant and they had no problem with bowing out of the contest, although we hated to see that happen.

I'd say that if we have enough (i.e. 10 plus plants) that are available to everyone, then why not create a 'second tier' of 'back up plants' (Masd tovarensis, C luteola and C walkeriana, and Phalaenopsis hieroglyphica, Pleuthallis ornata.) that we can debate separately in a chat just before we go to vote whether we want them included or not. (Hopefully this won't create more Admin for you, Sue! But it would be a way to keep those ones on the 'list' but still pointing out to everyone that they are not available to everyone.)

I think if we have 10 or more that everyone can get and that fit the spec of small/medium sized, intermediate growers that everyone is happy with, it wouldn't be fair to take the ones not available into the vote.

Just my 2 cents... feel free to ignore!!

I can do that

I will create a separate section for those that we love but are not available in ONE country ( or continent )...

I think it's time for us to get back to looking at orchids to add to the list.

All opinions are welcomed and I wouldn't think of ignoring any of them

One to suggest... maybe a lot of you already have this, but I don't have any Dens, so I don't know how common this is....

Dendrobium senile :

This charming little miniature Dendrobium species is well known for its characteristic hairy pseudobulbs and leaves. They only grow to a few centimetres long and are also deciduous. The plants are grown well mounted as this allows them to dry out regularly, which they benefit from. The flowers are produced on short stems in a lovely buttery yellow hue.

IOSPE says warm to cool growing, so its temperature tolerant?

And its scented! Bonus!!

On a yellow kick at the moment... Size might be an issue, don't know how 'medium' is 'medium'!

Miltonia flavescens
IOSPE PHOTOS

It produces long sprays of many star-shaped, straw-yellow flowers, giving a great show. Grow in intermediate temperatures minimum 12°C with good shade as they have quite pale, yellowy-green leaves.

Again, bonus! Scented!

It's a cutie...and it is a mini (I have one )
If we can confirm it's availability everywhere we need it to be, I'll certainly add it to the list

Found one that is available in UK and Canada:

Octomeria gracilis
IOSPE PHOTOS

It apparently smells like tangerines!

Hopefully its available in the US, and its a Brazilian species, so hopefully its available there as well!
