You've just made friends with the biggest bunch of enablers you'll ever meet!
Take a look through the forums and the gallery, see if something catches your attention and we'll be here to help you decide if it would work for you
Maybe you'd like to join us in our current OB Project. It's a great way to learn...for all of us!
Here's a link to explain the idea and another to give you an idea of the plants we're looking at so far. Each plant listed has a link to the information page. It should help you along:

Susanne, thanks for suggesting the OB Projects to me! I would be interested in #4 - I was particularly smitten by the laelia tenebrosa "Dark Laelia"! After perusing the entire list, I still feel the same way...let me know, the outcome of the selection, and how to be included in the process.

Cris...that's great news!
Nice to have you with us
I'm going to move our last few posts to the project thread so our other members can greet you here in Introductions
I'll add your name to the Laelia tenebrosa but you should pick a few others that you'd be interested in too
Thursday night at 7pm EST, we will start our first discussions on the project in our chat room. If you can't make it, don't worry. I'll be starting a new thread to keep everybody aware of what's been discussed.
We'll chat and talk through the forums for two weeks and then on Thursday Aug 2, I'll post a new thread with a poll. Each participating member will be able to vote for one of the ten plants on it. The poll will be comprised of the ten plants in the master list that have the most names next to them. The poll will be open for one week...and the winner of the poll is the orchid that we will all get. By then, we'll also know what vendor we'll be using.

Welcome to your first Orchid Board Project, Cris! (And my first one as well!!) You'll find quite a lot of good plants suggested in the list. As you are in the Pacific NW, your climate is probably close to mine... If the list is a bit overwhelming at the moment, look at the ones that I've put my name against... they should all do relatively well in a cool moist climate!
Again, welcome!! Its good to have you 'on board'!

I'm from Lorane, Oregon (in the wine country, 20-miles SW of Eugene). I'm interested, and suggest the lovely laelia tenebrosa.

Hi Cris I've added your name to the Laelia tenebrosa...but you should choose a few others too
Our members' input is what will creat the final ten plant list for the poll.
This is mentioned not just for Cris but for all the members participating. Make a few choices...don't you want your opinion to be counted?

Thanks. Region List?
Thank you all for your welcome and input. Neat! I will revisit the list and make other suggestions. Sorry if I posted suggestion in two locations...I thought I was adding my 2-cents to the list of names, but was on another thread...as my mother says, "it's making me Disney!" LOL. And, Dorothy, thanks for adding me to the OB4 regional list. How is this list viewed?
