One thing that I've found so great already is looking through all of the suggestions and finding great new orchids to add to the collection (whether they get chosen for the project ot not!)...

It's a learning experience from the very beginning I love that the projects give us a chance to explore some new opportunities...and we get to see a much broader variety of orchids than if we were just looking for one to add on our own

Nice find, D
From the description, I think it would be considered "Intermediate"...it's been added to the list, along with the names of Becca, shakkai and myself

I hope not to many others have this one already, although I know at least one of our members has this one already.

Becca...
this is a great choice for our project! I have one already but that's not going to stop it from being put on the list

Why don't we, EUropean people, buy this orchid from the same place? By doing so we can better compare our results! What about this idea????

Gennaro, I think that is a very good idea. I don't know if we will be able to get a discount like in the US... but it would certainly help the comparison if they all came from the same supplier.

Gennaro & shakkai:
That is a great idea!
If you can all decide on a reputable vendor, one of our European gang should contact them to explain our project. Most of the vendors I've ever spoken to have been very interested in helping in any way that will enlighten those of us in the world of orchids!
If you want a copy of the emails I've sent in our previous projects, I can probably come up with them. It will give you an idea of the wording I used or you can come up with your own explanation.
Besides trying to get a discount, they could put aside the number of plants you'll need, making an effort to keep them all in the stage phase of growth.
Please let us know if you've been able to get this done! Bravo!!!

Sue, I think it will depend on which orchid gets chosen in the end - that will most likely decide where we get it from, based on availability. So, once we know which place carries the one we want, I would suggest that someone who speaks the appropriate language - if possible - should contact them. Though if we don't have anyone, I'd be happy to try to work something out.
Thanks for the offer to help get the wording right... I'm sure that will help a lot!
Gennaro, where do you normally get your orchids from? Do you have a preferred supplier?

Sue and Becca,
I think Caulocattleya Chantilly Lace 'Twinkle' HCC/AOS (C. El Dorado Splash x Caularthron bicornutum) is lovely! Put my name next to this one too!
Ooo! Does anyone have any suggestions on a nice buttery yellow orchid for the project? I'm always looking for a nice yellow that's not spotted or waxy. (sorry I'm so picky!)
