At this stage, you can have your name next to as many as you like. When the final poll is posted, each participating member will get just ONE choice!

A bit of trivia:
an orchid is only considered a mini when the leaves measure under 6 inches

ALso is it too late to submit a species
If not, how about Cattleya luteola or C. maxima.

The first chat will be THURS JULY 19th at 7:00 p.m. EST.
The Final Poll will be posted on THURS AUG 2 and will be open to participants for one week.
I've added C luteola to the list but it's not available at either Paramount or Cloud's in Canada.
The C maxima is gorgeous but too big for our project plant

Yep, as warm is a No-No for me. I just can't provide those temps at any time of the year.... I can just about get away with intermediate.

Just to give you an idea, here is some historical data for June in England:
The Average High Temperature is 66 F with a historical range of 53 F to 80 F
The Average Low Temperature is 51 F with a historical range of 35 F to 62 F
and for July:
The Average High Temperature is 69 F with a historical range of 59 F to 86 F
The Average Low Temperature is 54 F with a historical range of 41 F to 64 F
Because everyone else seems to be okay with warm growers, if the list is leaning towards warm, I'll drop out so that I don't hold everyone else back.

Please add me to these suggested plants for project #4
Good Morning everyone!
To Susanne B and/or Dorothy, please add me to the following suggested plants.
Phrag. Hanne Popow
Phrag. fischeri
Bollea Violacea
Stanhopea embreei Dodson
Leptotes bicolor
Masdevallia tovarensis
Aerangis rodosticta
Gastrochilus calceolaris
I went through the complete list this a.m. and narrowed it down to these 8 (9 counting the Phal. Schilleriana I originally suggested) that I might stand a chance of growing in my area/home. All the others are nice and many of them I would like to have but their requirements (mostly temperature/humidity) would be a sure kill for me. Winters in Maine are brutal and many of the plants I now have are strictly experiments to see if I can get them through 6 to 8 months of coldweather.
What I did nottake into consideration for my choices is bloom season. This would seem (for this project) to be Fall/Winter. If 'we' take this into consideration the master list and my choices would be narrowed down even further.
As Shakkai said, if the final choice comes down to something that requires a warm/humid enviroment I'll willing drop out of the project and watch with great interest how it all turns out for those that do have a chance of growing that type of plant.
Will be at the chat tonight although my input will be minimal 'cause I'm just not that knowlegable with these plants yet. LOL
Thanks for letting this newbie participate, I am enjoying this site very much and have already learned much from it's various forums and informational pages!
