It's a great excuse to buy another (few) orchids. My fiancee is getting tired of the "it followed me home thing". I can use "it's an experiment" as an excuse now.
Pink, how can you miss in Orygun? I have friends that grow Cymbidiums as yard plants in Brookings area. I grew lots of stuff in Grants Pass in greenhouse while I was there many years ago.

True- I do have my cyms outside and have for a few months now. They will have to come in in November when it frosts. Now Vandas may be another story! I would love an excuse to try something I normally wouldn't. I find things tend to stay wet and cold in the winter here.

Okie dokie -- I'm in!
I'm thinking bulbo, nothing stinky
Love to see smaller size vanda on the list too.

With so many folks joining in , I would think it's going to be rather difficult to find something new, that nobody already has.

Just for the record, I don't mind doing a double aslong as it has grown well for me.
Any species or hybird is just fine with me

Nope! Neither of these have found their way here...yet

Perfect, isn't it?

Sue maybe you need to post a list of what you don't have..
Believe it or not...my list isn't the one that usually puts a halt to a suggestion

If the selection is either of these 2 I'm out 'cause it's a lost cause for me.
We have plenty to choose from...and your opinion counts towards the 'chids picked for the final poll so...

Agreed, Gloria
A bulbo would be great...but it can't be a stinker It's the stuff of nightmares for me!

It will be MUCH harder to find a 'chid nobody has so that part of the deal may be pushed further down the list of importance. Those of us with large collections shouldn't hold back the newer addicts. Many of us have more than one of the same plant...it will be a matter of how many are interested in something and then we can individually decide if we're going to continue or not.

luckygrower, pinkcat and Lagoon...
welcome to the project!

Here is a suggestion: Stanhopea embreei. Can be purchased at Oak Hill Gardens.
Oak Hill Gardens

Or is this one that one of us already has?

I don't have any Stanhopes so...

I also LOVE the stuff from Oak Hill but since we've used them already and got a nice discount, I don't want to ask them for another one.

Another great part of this project, besides learning about orchids is dealing with "new" vendors.
That's not to say we absolutely can't use someone we've used before but I'd like to expand our horizons
It would be wonderful if we came up with a plant from one of OB's sponsors

You have all come up with some great suggestions...are you keeping a folder in your Favorites with links to each? It'll make the process go a lot smoother if you can suggest a plant and then put up a link to show us right there!

A suggestion from me: I'd love a Bletilla

Susanne, there are other vendors selling that particular orchid, I just didn't realize we were trying to go through a new vendor, and I understand your reasoning for it. What vendors have been used in the past so far other then Oak Hill Gardens?
