Hey all!, I got a spike coming as well, so after all that fretting, I guess it paid off! I'll post a pic this weekend.

The nubbin COULD be a spike. It's small, not so thick as the new root when it started. . .I'll be watching very closely. lol

Ok here are the pics i promised. Two of the new spike and the other is the black spots on the leaves. Anybody have an idea of what the spots are and what to do? So far they haven't gotten bigger or damaged the leaves any more. I've started watering with RO only, and now that it's spiking should I switch the ferterlizer to the high bloom formula, or stick with my20-10-20. I also need to add the new leaf starting on it's travel companion Phal. gigantea! AND THANKS FOR ALL OF THE ADVICE IT'S BEEN VERY HELPFUL. My hope was begining to fade on this one, it's been a very challenging little plant!

Erin, this little plant is a challenge to be sure. Yours looks fine to me. Just keep doin what you are doin and you should be fine. Stick with the same regime you have been doing including the RO water.

Erin, I hate to be a wet blanket, but that's a root, not a spike. But in keeping with Ross's mantra repeat after me..."Roots are good, roots are good", The spikes on these guys are really thin, about the size of mechanical pencil lead. As for the black spots, mine has a few mostly on the undersides of the leaves. Not sure what causes it...mine came that way.
Wait, wait I just looked harder at your pics. Is the spike to the left of the new root?

Mine is growing roots and leaves. The spike is getting longer but I don't see any buds/flowers yet. I'm not changing anything at this point--just gotta be patient.

Does anyone know how long the spike will grow before we will see flowers? I have another new root growing and the new leaf is getting bigger!
