Thanks I new I was forgetting something. I changed the name from Dendrobium wenzellii to Dendrochilium wenzellii and didn't change IOSPE link.

So excited! :X I hope we don't choose something too hard for intermediate.
I've heard that L. anceps and some of the others in cool and warm can also do well in Intermediate- if the plant chosen for our section is too expensive/hard, could we try one from another section that might tolerate a wide range of conditions?

Also, don't mean to step on toes, but after some failed searches, I think I discovered that the Zygo is "maculatum" not "marulatum"

Sure, Yea they may work in other temp ranges but it would be way to difficult to find ones that only grow in there range. I'm mostly going by the day time temps. any plant that can grow in day time temps above 85F degrees I'm listing as warm growers Mid 70's to 85 Interm. and Under mid 70's Cool.

Hmm...well if I can afford it, I might be able to do Warm as well- our outside temps definitely get up there. And we have about a 20* difference from day to night. I have a "bright shaded" table that I'm going to try my new c. intermedia on this spring.
Could you say which of the ones we could choose from would tolerate lower humidity? I know that you can get by as long as you keep the roots moist/healthy, but still.

That works fine with most plants, but not for all! Take Phal mannii for example. intermediate/warm grower if you go by day temps but it NEEDS a cool winter to bloom. I don't know if Florida people can manage that.

How do you provide a cooler environment indoors?
I love phal mannii, but the coolest our house gets in the winter is 65 at night. There's a niche by our fireplace that might get to ~60. Would that be good enough?

It's all about experimentation! Some people have terrarium set up that they manage to keep cool, you'd have to do some research on here on how exactly they have their terrariums set up for this. For me...I've tried a few cool growing 'chids, one in particular was Choclioda rosea that I got from Andy's Orchids. I couldn't get the temps below intermediate temps and it sure pouted! One yellow leaf after another, but it was still putting out new growths. I gave up after a couple of years and sold it at my local orchid society. This last meeting the person who bought it brought it in to display on our "in bloom" table. I was so excited to see it in bloom I wanted to cry...lol. I asked her what she was doing and she said it was in her green house with intermediate temps and bright light...go figure! I think maybe I wasn't giving it enough air circulation and light maybe? It was a mount plant. So like I said, it's all about experimenting and taking the risk of killing it! If you don't succeed...by another one!
