Finally got a spike on my little new project haraella (and my previously owned one has 2 on it now!) I think since I grow with window light we are always a bit behind here in Oregon...

I think it smells alot like the citronella candles you put outside to keep away the mosquitos. Kind of a chemical smell.

Wow! Camille, that's a cute one!! Congrats!!

Don't beleive I will participate in any new projects...
my H R looks the same as I received when the project started. No new leaves, no spike, no buds, no flowers. Not a good subject for my conditions I guess. The only positive thing is that she is still green and not dead!

Don... Have you tried tweaking its conditions yet? It's been a good little while now, so maybe try bumping up the amount of light it gets? Or the amount of water it gets?

Yvan - I think the watering is okay. Almost every day but I guess I need to bump up the light. It is inside but I now put it in a south window. Maybe that will help. Thanks for the advice.

Mine finally seems to be showing some signs of life. The original spike it came with is noticeably bigger, and it looks like it's putting out a second spike. It definitely took its sweet time deciding if it wanted to live or die!

I grow mine in a South faced window. It's in the window sill and gets a lot of light (full sun!). It gets sun until 2 - 3 pm. Only on very hot days I take it away from the window around 1.30 pm. On sunny days I make sure it's well watered (it's a thirsty plant) and covered with a clear pot to increase humidity. It loves it. I have still 9 spikes on it, with 4 building buds in the same stage of development.
They can take quit some light and love temps 26-30C

Nicole; your plant is incredible.. 9 spikes!!!!!!!!!! hope you post pics regularly as they develop!
I agree these plants like S. facing windows or equivalent light to grow the best as well as alot of water (mine are mounted and get a dip 2 times a day..& are both on their 4/5th flower as well as new leaves and new spike on one (only 3 )

I'm not positive, but I think mine has decided to live and.....I think I've got a spike. I'll try to get some pictures tonight.
