Terri, you don't have to say sorry (!) but I'm thrilled to read about your plant.

My little guy is growing a new leaf and a new root and on close inspection there is a new nubbin appearing only time will tell if its going to be a spike or another root, it is about 3 -4 ft beneath a metal halide light that is on usually around 10-12 hours a day humidity is around 50% It is mounted and gets sprayed daily as the moss dries very fast, it is due a fertliser dose as are my other mounteds that I will do tomorrow, I just use the vitax general orchid feed ( crystals) diluted in water for all my orchids unless they are throwing up spikes when they get a bloom formula feed. My guy is upside down on his mount ( actually turned the whole thing upside down as I mounted crown up) after some people pointed out it could get crown rot if water sat there and I spray rather haphazardly at times. if anything develops from this little nubbin that has jut appeared i will post a photo if it another root I wont, I am sure we have all seen our share of roots LOL

.... just to say, I don't mind reading that someone 'only' got a 'leaf or root'! quite the contrary to me it's the makings of a super happy plant! - & the aim of having projects? Who knows one day someone will have the patience /time to go through all of the projects and make 'world' culture charts on each project plant chosen ..just an idea...
another idea regarding Project 9 members & Dons thoughts
HTML Code:
Let's not be so quick with another project plant. There seems to be quite a few who have had flowers but mainly because they were already in spike or bud. I bet the majority of the 60+ participants have had neither spike nor bloom.....I for one. I've seen some of the blooms but not all that many cultural notes from the various parts of the world. Just my two

What about a Poll? I haven't the foggiest about how to start one? But could be interesting...?

Believe it or not the last project started almost 3 months ago. Also the only time alot of you can order plants is Spring, Summer, and early Fall. So there is a limited time for these projects, and now is the time.

If the number of participants keeps growing the way that it has, we're going to have to start choosing more than one plant (due to availability). I think this would be a good idea, I've always wanted to open it up to larger plants. We should pick a small plant and a large plant, and everyone can choose which one they want to get. I, personally, prefer the larger plants, but I know that there are many who prefer smaller plants ....or are spacially challenged. If you want, you can buy them both....and be a double participant!

Here is the first bloom on mine.
Look at all the hairs on the lip!
It took at least a week before it fully opened. At first the petals were greenish but got intense yellow after a few days.
My Haraella is smelly in the morning and late evening. The smell is lemony and sometimes strong (for such a tiny plant). It's smell kind of chemically to me.
