Yes, the dearii should be considered a warm grower...it got a bit cold in the orchid room this winter and this one shows the most damage of them all. I am hoping that I didn't lose the entire plant

Yes, I'd agree it sounds too warm for our project... as much as I like it. Oh well... TC candidate
I also wanted to suggest another vendor to check with. I've not ordered from them, but they have a huge facility and claim to have many species and minatures. Their website is fun
Anyhow, it's White Oak Orchids White Oak Orchids

Took a quick peek at their site...I see lots of species!
Does anybody have experience with this company?
Thanks for the suggestion, Nichole

Has the next chat been scheduled? That white oak site has some nice stuff from what I can see from the pictures but I can't view the shop online link. there is a page load error. What are the prices like?

Here is their Price List. Yeah, I wasn't able to view the "shop online" link, but they do have a list of all genera available and it says to contact them with any specific needs/questions. It's all under the "sales" tab on their website.

I'm hoping to get the list from J&L soon...once we have that, I'll schedule a chat. I'd really like to have a working list with the research already done prior to us chatting again.
Hopefully, one of the others will also get back to me but nothing yet
If anybody has any positive past experience with White Oak, I'll contact them too. With so much $$$ involved, I'd hate to take a chance on a non-reputable vendor.
This place looks like a great place to do some shopping but for the project, I'd like some reassurance

Furthermore, even though it is about 12" tall "PB + leaf), the plant itself tends to be very large and have a creeping rhizome that would make it difficult to handle for most people (My opinion)

Laura, how cold was "a bit cold"? My plant grows and bloom fine under intermadiate conditions (upper range of intermediate, but sometimes with cooler temps at night)... Same as my Sophonitis cernua, which is available everywhere I think, and could be a good candidate for the project too: Orchid of the Week Library: Sophronitis cernua Cattleya Orchid Source - Sophronitis cernua
