Repotting Zygonisia Cynosure & backbulbs
The last time I repotted my 'blue water sailing' cultivar it was set back a few months and didn't rebloom until the 2nd new growth. However this time I noticed lots of new roots so hopefully things will be OK. I split it into 2 separate plants - both have vigorous roots and 1 also has a new growth. I didn't have to remove any dead roots so used the same media composition: 70/30 medium/fine bark to sphagnum moss.
Additionally I broke off 2 back bulbs, both have roots. I have bagged these up in sphagnum moss as an experiment. Its one of my favourite orchids, so I don't mind trying to propagate it.

Good luck!
I have bought zygos that were from back-bulb divisions so you will probably succeed in getting a few extra.

Well done! I recall you saying before that this hybrid isn't always happy after a repot, in fact you told me when I repotted mine in my 'experiment' to try peat moss...and such is the case. However my results are a bit conflicted as b/c it may be more the peat moss expt than the actual repot itself. I have a number of plants losing leaves and my Blue Water has lost all of its but the bulbs are still nice. We'll see as I'm going to do some tweaking.
Good luck with yours! Do share pictures if you get around to it and perhaps any progress.

an update
- the 2 separated plants each have new growths and one of these has 2 spikes. Success !
- the 2 backbulbs have each sprouted a growth. It will be a while yet for roots, but its a promising start.
