Spike or New Growth?
Hey OB, need an opinion on this new formation. This is a Zygonisia Blue Birds. I want to say it's a spike, for obvious reasons, but also because it's coming off a relatively new growth. But the features looks more like a new growth. I'd just think it's strange for a new growth to have a new growth so high up on it. What do you think?

I don't recognize it as being flowers...
But...
Zygopetalum tends to bloom from new growths before the pseudobulbs develop.
However...
This plant shouldn't just have what resembles one flowering bud developed like what is shown in the pic. Zygonisia has multiple flowers per spike.
Sorry, back to square one.
At least you know more though.

It looks like it could be a spike. Keep an eye on it - the spikes should begin to take shape within a few days (you should see multiple bumps on the "Spike" arranged in a zigzag manner).

I'll post another picture tonight when I get home. It's more and more starting to appear to be a spike. Compared to the 2 other growths she's putting out, it doesn't look the same, less pointed, no signs of multiple leaves in the formation. I'll keep you posted, but cheers to a possible spike.

Ok, here are some pics as this little guy grows. I think it's a spike now, given what you'll see from the looks of a growth. It also isn't growing from the base of some pbs, but inside a new growth itself. Give me your thoughts though.
1st pic is the growth in question, a likely spike
2nd pic is a new growth starting, best pic I could take.

Good News. Heck I owe you King just for helping me to get it to spike the first time. I'll post some photos as they open, but gonna be a month or so.

Just to keep everyone up to date with this spike, it's grown like a weed over the past week+. About 4-5" long now, and starting to show some signs of blooms. I'm hoping the 2 other growths will also grace me with a spike or 2.
