I couldn't resist this one yesterday. I'm also looking forward to Lycaste cruenta 'Nisqually' HCC/AOS within the next two weeks!

Are you going to take the plant for judging? It looks to me like you could win a cultural award with this plant.

I agree that this one has potential. I purchased it yesterday from Fishing Creek Orchids in Harrisburg, PA. There was another division of almost the same size!

Maybe, next year....

While reading Oakeley's new book today, I was interested to note that he considers this species to be Ida fimbriata. SInce the award was registered under the Lycaste ciliata name, I will continue to use that when specifically addressing this cultivar.

Very nice, Stitz. How do you like its evening fragrance? The plant I have is labeled fimbriata instead of ciliata. When it flowers (hopefully soon), I'll post some pictures so that we can compare the two. I would LOVE to get hold of that new Oakeley book. How do you like it? Do you think it's worth the hefty price tag? Again, beautiful flowers on your plant. Congratulations on the nice buy.

Steve

Steve, I enjoyed the fragrance during the day on the 2 hr drive home after purchasing this plant! I haven't noticed an evening fragrance.

The Oakeley book is superb. It is more than worth the price. You might want to order directly from Oakeley. His price is £50 + shipping. Today, £1 = US$1.50. It was $2.00 when I purchased it only a few months ago! My MasterCard was accepted by Oakeley.

I have an Ida fimbriata that I purchased from Ecuagenera a little more than one yr ago. It should flower in 2009. I'll be interested to see that comparison!

Ooops! I erred. I sent Henry a "cheque". At about the same time, I also subscribed to The Orchid Review, published in the UK--which did take my MasterCard.
