New from FL
Hello everyone. I have lurked here for awhile, but finally decided to register. I have been growing orchids for four years. I think I finally have the hang of it-a little bit. There have been some casualties along the way, but I currently have ten plants doing well. I hope to have my own greenhouse in the next 3 years. I look forward to learning through everyone's experience.

Hi Renee
Welcome to Orchidboard!
Unfortunately, casualties along the way are part of the learning process...which never ends I bet you're looking forward to the greenhouse getting done!
What types of orchids are you growing?
What part of Florida are you in? I'm in Spring Hill about 40 miles north of Tampa.
If you need help with anything, let us know

Well, we are all neighbors. I live in Inverness, FL.
I currently have 10 plants. I would have many more, but I rent a small house and don't have even a lanai to my name! LOL.
I have 2 phal hybrids, 2 brassia hybrids, 4 hybrids with oncidium lineage, 1 paph, and 1 catt. The only one that I have managed to get to re-bloom for me is my Oncidium Sharry Baby. But I'm working on it, and I refuse to give up. I figure I got the keep them alive part down, and now I can work on the re-blooming part!

WOW, we are neighbors!
Do you belong to any orchid societies? There's a great meeting that happens on the first Monday of each month in Lecanto. If you're interested, let me know and I'll give you the info

I would be very interested in that. Lecanto is only a few minutes from my house. I don't currently belong to any orchid societies. Guess I'm waiting till I know what I'm doing!

Way cool! I'll PM you the information and hope to meet you next month
It's a great group...unlike most other "clubs". It's a bunch of orchid lovers sitting around just discussing orchids and learning from the best

Welcome Renee. My folks are living in the Lutz/St. Pete area. I try my best to get down there once a year after snow is gone (I'm a snow bunny )

Ross - isn't the term 'snow bird' ?
or do you call yourself a 'bunny' because of your fuzz?
