Hi everyone. I received my first Phalaenopsis about 8 years ago when I retired and had a smashing success with it. Since then, many more (I have over a dozen now) have followed me home. They live on my porch in the summer and my window sills in the winter. Several are always in bloom at any given moment and as we are in the north east USA where the winters are long, the blooms make me smile when there are multiple feet of snow!! This year, my children sent me a Beallara Marfitch 'Howard's Dream'. I was googling for information on this orchid when I came across this forum.

I am truly a novice with my orchids – I can replant, feed, get blooms from my Phalaenopsis orchids but have successfully killed a cattleya. Hopefully I will not kill the Howards Dream - It was beautiful when it was in bloom!!

Look forward to getting to know you all

and welcome!

Beallara Marfitch 'Howard's Dream is a oncidium intergenetic that is very easy to grow.

Likes light and it can take mild but direct morning sun on an east facing window sill will provide enough light intensity for flowering.
A west-facing exposure will work if you make sure the leaves don't feel hot to the touch. In a greenhouse, 50% shade. I water mine once a week and fertilized every 3rd watering.

Temps can range between 58ºF low (at night in winter) and 83ºF high (daytime in summer).

I hope this helps.
Liz
