Orchids and Frogs
I always feel so akward (sp) when I join new forums like this...UGH!! I'm the new kid all over again!
I have (what my husband would consider) entirely TOO many orchids...I told him that simply isn't possible (as I add 4 more this week ) I prefer species over hybrids; Wow, I hope that didn't seem snobish , I seem to have better luck with them - strange, I know. I guess I got stared with chids about 9 years ago - killed all of them less one - a small blc x, lost the tags ages ago. I never could get the poor thing to grow OR bloom. Finally, it grew three new pseudobulbs and has two bloom pods...I can't wait to see the flowers, I have no idea what they look like anymore (butterscotch, I think)
As far as the frogs go..or hop as the case maybe...My Mom has always had a fondness of frogs and I guess it rubbed off on me. I have one on my foot and everywhere else in the house, my office, my truck - no wait that's a seahorse...

Nothing to feel awkward about...you've just made lots of new friends!
I think most of our spouses feel the same way...but what do they know? Too many orchids? No such thing!!!
Where are you located? Do you grow your 'chids indoors, outdoors, greenhouse...terrarium?
We look forward to hearing more from you...and we're also all addicted to pictures of orchids
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask
I also prefer species but that's not to say I'll pass up a hybrid...or even a NOID if I like it
Totally addicted here

I uploaded a couple of my babies but the "other" half has moved all of my chid pics... so I'll have to search for them later...
*Off topic for a sec* this "smilie" is HISTERICAL!!!
OK..'nuff of that, so I grow all of mine outside. I'm getting (hopefully) a small greenhouse for my birthday in the spring (perfect time, right?) so I'll get put them in a structure I can ACUTALLY move around in..I'm very excited...most of the time my plants are hanging from our privacy fence in the side garden or from one of the many oak trees in our yards...

 WELCOME IRPHROG
Glad you can join us here at the OB
I, too have grown a love for species orchids and like Sue .. don't mind a nice hybrid or NOID
There is very little snobbery here .. and your attraction to species is no mark of it -
From your list, you have a nice variety of 'chids!
You fit right in! No need to feel awkward -
Oh .. you seem to be a great candidate for some items that this site sells - check out this link - Husband : OrchidBoard : CafePress.com
I see you have already started a gallery - don't forget to post some photos of your froggies in our pet forum and you might want to use the search option for frogs .. you will come up with some past threads of members here who also share your passion for those adorable amphibs.

Welcome aboard! Just checked out your pics. The Psycopsis is very nice. As to orchids and frogs, they go together quite nicely.

I'm going to be posting pictures of all my chids shortly...I have a white phal noid that's putting up a nice bloom spike but the plant has taken some abuse from the summer's windy weather I have another phal that looks like it's about to croak but seems to also be putting up a spike..that actually worries me - please do not be impressed with my collection as I love these guys but have just enough knowledge to be dangerous....please look at these pictures and tell me what Im doing wrong

Welcome. Must be nice to be able to grow outside anytime of the year! Up here in the icebox, we have little opportunity (this was last April), to set up greenhouses and be able to afford the heat bill. I'd be facing thousands of dollars for propane over the winter.
