Sorry! Confused and did not say HI!
Default Sorry! Confused and did not say HI!

I am a member of the SAOS. Grow on trees and shelters I have built around the house. I have about 55 plants ranging from a very few phals to comparable amounts on catts and dendrobiums. I particularly like the catts and am having a good year. Many buds showing and developing. Dendrobiums just plain like my oak tree and hose sprayer. ALL are more neglected than ever AND doing better than ever.

Welcome to Orchid Board! You're very lucky to be able to grow orchids outdoors on trees.

Default Growing in trees

Tucker, I have seen many places in F L where orchids grow outdoors. I made a shelter over my AC compressor and keep about 15 plants there. I have 16 out under the old oak tree (which really is not old). I have 3-4 in a small maple and 20 on my porch. I close the porch in during winter and manage to winter over all of them....very crowded but it works.

Hello, I too am confused and didn't say hello. So Hello.

I've just taken an abused, neglected, phalaenopsis away from the darkest corner of my mother's house. My ultimate goal is to nurse it back to health, and grow a keiki, and someday have my own orchid. My only other plant is a Zygocactus, also rescued from the same dark shelf as the Orchid.

Hello EVERYONE!!!! LOL...

You have come to the right place! Everyone here is extremely kind and helpful. There is not a single question that someone will not have an answer to.

I have found everyone here to be extremely helpful and insightful - not to mention very intelligent and willing to share their thoughts on the subject. The only "stupid" question is the one not asked.

WELCOME ABOARD!!!!
