Found my orchid in a dumpster
Yup, that's right, on Mother's Day no less!!! Anyhow, I'll be honest, I've never been a "plant person"... and wouldn't be now, but maybe its the whole rescue thing...I don't know, but now I find myself moving the orchid around to get more/less sunlight, researching the water quality levels of my city, joining chat boards to learn how to take care of him....etc...etc..oh, and by the way, its a boy, his name is Oscar, now see there I go again, the whole attachment thing....
But seriously, I know as much about orchids as I do about 18th century Russian poets, but I do want to learn and think this is a great place to start. As for myself....I am a nurse, as if you can't tell, and I am into University of Michigan Ball, as if you also couldn't tell...anyways, I think this seems to be a pretty cool site.., so I hope to get some good conversation and information!!
Thanks for the read.

hello and
glad to have you on the board, and dont worry most people do get attached to orchids very easily.

Great intro and welcome.
I think you may be on the edge of an orchid fancy.
It's a peculiar phenomenon that occurs when a person begins a "relationship" with an orchid. There is an exchange of two living things. One an orchid, the other an as of yet indescribable mammalian critter willing to fuss over the latter in order to see what the latter is all about.
You can either continue with just one or become fascinated by the many thousands of other types.
Enjoy. But pay attention. You might find it necessary to explain how all this got started some years from now. And why.

Hi Angela...welcome to Orchidboard
Sounds like you've got a bad case of orchiditis...just like the rest of us. It's an epidemic!!!
This is a great place to learn and meet new people with the same affliction.
If you have any questions, just ask

Aboard, what a great rescue and sounds like it gotcha hook, line and sinker...way to go
We here at the OB over s...don't forget we have a gallery where you can download your s.
Your just in time to sign up for the OB Project #4 where so many of us purchase a single like orchid and raise it and communicate on the what if's and the how come's and see whose will bloom first. But with our past projects the first is not always the fullest of blooms, seems like the last bloomer was the "mother load" ... I think Sue can vouch for that one. Nothing prettier than her avatar
It's great to have you here and any questions asked is never to silly, we all started the same way one orchid at a time ... excluding purchase points...
WooHoo no cure
