Default Hello from Australia

Hi to everyone here I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello to everyone. I am a plant biologist with a background mostly in plant tissue culture. At the request/begging of a local orchid society member I tried my hand at orchid tissue culture from seed about 6months ago. Since then I have worked on roughly 15 mostly native australian orchid species and now some of the spares are starting to make there way from there lab jars to my house. This board has been great for information on how to care for them. It is one thing to produce great healthy plants in the lab in tissue culture but a completely different thing to grow them at home.

Hello, aussieorchid! This is a good place to learn a lot. There is no substitute for hearing other people's experiences.

Tissue culture is an interesting field. I used to do it when we were doing research on a polio vaccine.(It was still pretty primitive then).

Welcome to the Orchid Board. Always nice to see a plant biologist on the board! What genera are you working with? Thanks.

Hello and welcome to Orchidboard

This is a great place to learn about orchids...and I'm sure we'll be learning from you too

What types of 'chids are you caring for besides the very cool scientific stuff?

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask

Sarcochilus roseus
Dendrobium bigibbum (var bigibbum)
Dendrobium wassellii
Sarcochilus cecileae
Phaius bernaysii
Phalaenopsis rosenstromii

Aboard, great that your here and am sure you will bring the OB to the next level...flasking WooHoo!!! Not that I am anywhere near that level it's great to have your knowledge within. If and when I step to that level, a need to get beyond being inpatient will be the first task. What an impressive list.

BTW ... we love s...
