Hello everybody! Male
Default hello everyone! new guy on board..........

can I start by asking a question about lighting and blooming oncidiums?
have a t5 2' fixture w 4 6500K bulbs on 16 hrs. plants get some sun as they sit in a southern window when the sun is shining. is this enough light or the right spectrum from my T5 rig? rays calculator and my Dslr says i have about 3800 ft/candles.
any or all tips would be appreciated..........?? thanks in advance.

hmm - I don't have artificial lights, or light meter, but most of my oncidium alliance orchids bloom with some direct morning or afternoon sun. Most don't seem to need very much direct sun. Early morning, or quite late in the day. Hopefully someone can help with the footcandles and such for you

again. thanks, WR, for your input. I figured it' summer here in Pa. plants should be blooming. ..........I was hoping to get some input regarding the 6500k lights. Maybe some 'warmer' wavelengths would inspire the plants to want to reproduce?

well it's summer here too Some just bloom later, or when they are in the proper stage of growth. I don't use lights - hopefully someone else can advise on that.
