Lubbock has no woods - I remember when I was growing up here there was a joke ...

In Lubbock there are historical markers on trees - that say "tree."

You can see the horizon in every direction, it is flat flat flat. But at least in the intervening time since I was a teenager in Lubbock, trees have grown, neighborhoods have filled out with greenery and trees. Lubbock is a little oasis in the midst of a vast cotton patch. But the sky is big - and there are spectacular sunrises and sunsets.

I did find someone as crazy as me growing in the Panhandle!!!! I am new to orchids too - a year now and I haven't killed the first ones yet ......
