First I would like to thank all of the members for the wealth of information I have gained. 3 months ago, Lowes was selling dozens of Orchids for $3.00 to $5.00 a piece. I purchased four different varieties totaling 30 orchids. Most were tagged. I have heated workshop with South and East sun exposure. After my research I set up racks with supplemental lighting. I repotted all of the orchids and three are about to bloom from a stem above a node on the old cane. My cattleyas are in a 55 gallon aquarium against on East window with a dog crate fan inside. They sit on damp gravel which keeps the humidity at 60- 70%. The dems are in front of the south window. The oncidiums are on the top rack close to three cfls next to a east facing window and the phals are under them. I am a true believer in the attachment one can feel toward these beautiful plants. I should have my phal first bloom within a month!
