one year member finally posts!

I logged in today and find a message that says "seems you've never posted here, why not say hello?"
It appears that the last date I was here was Sept 24th of 2007! Yikes

So i'm intro'ing myself. I live in Germany and have 2 orchid plants. They're much less trouble than my 4 children, but I am a complete novice. Both plants were given to me at Thanksgiving as gifts from a couple whom i've hosted at our family Turkey day feast two years in a row. Turkey is not a German tradition so many view it as a treat to be invited to share an American family tradition.

Although I knew nothing about orchids before acquiring one 2 years ago, i've managed to keep it alive. It even started growing really well for awhile. Unfortunately it has never flowered again. I have a friend who is a member here who suggested i join, which i did, but then I was too busy to get on here and check things out.

Our family was home in the states for a month this summer and both of my plants suffered somewhat under the less than knowlegeable eye of a kind neighbor. So i am going to check around here and see what i can find out to bring my Phal and Dendrobium back to health...hopefully.

So you should see me around here asking some questions sometime soon now that the kids are back in school!
