Purple phal identification

Hi guys, some time ago I bought a phal from Wilko. Trouble is that I don't know what phal it is and unfortunately it didn't have any label. It was something done on the spur of the moment, I liked how it looked and I bought it. Now, I have another phal, a gold staff and I've pollinated it with the other one, so I'd really like to know what type of phal it is. Any idea?! I'm pretty sure it's a phal, but then again I'm not an expert at all!

It is a Phal, and that is really all the ID that is possible from a picture. No matter how much someone is sure this looks just like theirs, you can't put a name on it. Many of these mass market plants are unregistered hybrid seedlings, every one a little different within a cross, but so similar from one cross to another that you couldn't sort them out even knowing they are different.

Ah OK, I see, thanks for your message. Sorry, I'm not an expert orchids grower, I kind of assumed that every hybrid was somehow registered, how now naive!
Anyway, as I mentioned in my other post, I've pollinated my gold staff phal with that purple one, and, say that I'm successful (unlikely) and I managed to get some new plants, how do I then register it?

RHS has sometimes allowed registrations of hybrids with unknown parents, but I don't know under what circumstances it would be allowed. The application process would be the same, and the registrar would have to decide. It would probably take direct communication with someone at RHS to find out specifics.

Orchid naming and hybrid registration is a complex topic, and the sale of unidentified plants is becoming very common. There is no need to apologized for being unaware of any aspect of it. I doubt there is ever a day that someone here isn't hoping to identify a NoID or complaining about naming.

I agree, but NoID's need homes too. THis one however looks a bit more special than your standard box store orchid. Reminds me of P. equestris, lijke these in this website;

Most mini Phals are equestris hybrids of some kind, this one certainly included. But the shape of the lip is not even close, as comparison to the equestris photo link makes clear.
