I do not think we should be too harsh on Astrid. She probably just has not had the experience with plants that many have had and orchids are rather crazy that there are so many varieties...that look the same. I do not know of any other plant type that is so divided up. Even roses, which have been hybridized like crazy, cannot match what has been done with orchids.

Lovage and Valerian look very similar when out of bloom. I grow both so I have to be careful. Some types of bamboo, at a certain size, can look very similar to a Phal-type Dendrobium. There are so many examples out there. Plants never fail to amaze and fascinate me.

Astrid, you might like to read 'why a noid is a noid' at the top of the ident. forum, it should explain it. It will be just like everyones answer here. No one was being rude just trying to explain.
