They are blooms from a Phal Dendrobium type. Lovely color. I really like how the dark purple fades into the brighter purple and then into the white.

Thanks a lot OrchidPrince! I thougth that they would be Phal Dendrobium spike! These species can be pollinate with Phalaenopsis?

Sadly not (would be rather interesting though!), as they are completely separate groups;
Phalaenopsis are monopodial (one continuous growth)
Dendrobium are sympodial (many "ending" growths (as in bulbs)).
They share the name phalaenopsis (cod-latin for "moth-like"), it's also all they're sharing.

So the genus Dendrobium is not compatible with the genus Phalaenopsis
Thanks!

Exactly!
Confusing though with the same name (I asked a similar question in my early years, although with Bulbophyllum phalaenopsis).

No, no, I know that Phalaenopsis and Dendrobium phalaenopsis don't have nothing in common but the name, I asked if that can be pollinate each other because Phalaenopsis are the only orchids that I've got in flower now, so they are the only that I could pollinate

Yeah, phalaenopsis are monopodial, and dendrobiums are sympodial. They are very very different in that way! It is like asking if a cat and a rabbit could "pollinate" each other– it just won't work.
I am not extremely familiar with plant genetics, but you need to at least stay within the same genera in most cases- oncidiums with oncidiums, phalaenopsis with phalaenopsis, and dendrobium with dendrobium.

That is how I understand it, anyway.

Well, actually, Dendrobium and Phalaenopsis are different genus in the same family, Orchidaceae
Cat and rabbit are in different family, so it's a bit different (this, only to be pernickety )
Cat are in the same family with Lynx, Jaguar, Lions, Tiger and Leopard, and we know that in this family it's possible to hybrid only the most similar species (like tiger with lion, who are in the same genus: Panthera)
So, it's clear that it's more easy to hybrid two species if they are in the same genus
Sometimes inter-generic cross are possible, but effectively Phalaenopsis and Dendrobium are not only different genus, but they're also in different tribes, so I approve that it's very difficoult to cross them
BUT
before Trollsvans told me that it's impossible to cross them, I've alredy do it! I've pollinate a NoID Phal with the Dendrobium phalaenopsis pollen, and now the Phalaenopsis flower is withering like when an orchid flower got pollinated
NOW
I know that probably the flower won't produce a pod, and it will fall off soon
or
it will start to pruduce a pod, but after a time, the pod will die
or
the pod will ripen, but the seeds won't be fecund
BUT
I'll update you, who knows how it will end

Yes, do keep us updated. I think that once the flower is pollinated, even by an incompatible cross, it will react the same as if it were a compatible one....you will probably see no pod, or a beginning pod that is aborted, but do keep us updated - if it does cross, I want a seedling!!!!!
Beautiful coloring!
