NoID - Maybe a Laelia??
I've had this plant for several years and it finally decided to bloom! I have no idea where it came from but it looks like it may be a Laelia (bifoliate and non-fragrant.) Any help with identifying it would be greatly appreciated.

Great way to introduce yourself. Welcome to the board, Bradsell. Great success with your plant. The flower reminds me of Laelia speciosa/majalis, the bulbs look like Schomburgkia. Maybe its a hybrid. It would be helpfull to post a photo of the whole plant.
Sorry, but I can't tell you exactly what it is.

The flowers strongly resemble Laelia (Schomburgkia) superbiens, but with broader flatter petals than usual. From what I can see the pseudobulbs and leaves are consistent with that species. Maybe a hybrid. Can we get a better picture of the plant and spike?

I'd go for a hybrid with indeed Laelia involved.

Thanks for the valuable input! I also thought it might be a superbiens but the absence of any yellow in the throat threw me. Pretty sure I picked it up at Santa Barbara Orchid Estate in the early 80's so assumed it would be a species.

I've added an additional photo of the entire plant and the previous post should read "early 90's" - Thanks!

Definitely not a 'true' Laelia by the growth habit, could it be C. violacea, or a hybrid thereof? Very pretty whatever it is!

I was thinking a Catt. violacea hybrid as well. Probably a primary hybrid and if you contact SBOE, they might be able to tell you what it is.

No ID from me, does look a lot like a Laelia, but the stem looks more like the Schoburgkia influence - whatever it is it meets my criteria - It's really pretty and has great coloring! Hope you can ID it.
Steve
P.S. Welcome to the Orchid Board - hope you enjoy your time here!!!

I think it has a lot of schomburkia in it. Superbiens. Call SBOE and they could narrow it down.
