What is this? Phaius?
Default What is this? Phaius?

Hello all,

My grandmother has two plants she wants to give me. She called them "fake orchid's", and I'm trying to find out exactly what they are so I can care for them. It looks like a Phaius to me, but I've never had one so I can't be sure.

The first three pictures are of the last blooms it had. The other two pictures are the two plants, they're supposed to be the same.

So can someone tell me what this is?

Thanks!

Looks like either a Calanthe or Phaius to me personally. How tall are they? My Phaius' are much taller and fuller than my Calanthes.

The one that has leaves is between 1-2ft. The spikes it had were between 2-3ft.

Old growths die after a year or so generally, as new growths come up. I did notice that one didn't appear to have any new growth and the leaves appeared dead at the base. Not sure what that means unless there is new growth that I'm just not seeing in the pic.

I grow mine exactly the same as Calanthes. They both are terrestrial.
