I give all my Noids a "Garden Name" - which is perhaps 99% of my collection. I do have 6 that have been tentatively ID'd, all are miniatures which may have made IDing them easier. (Sogo Gotris, Sogo Vivian, Formosa Cranberry, Little Zebra (peloric), Wedding Bells and Jaiho's Pink Girl) are the ones with the "LL" in front of the name) All the ones with garden names generally have to do with the flower color or pattern, like "Plum Wonderful" "Magenta Madness" and "Dotted Swiss" a harlequin patterned one. Some of the bigger Phals w/garden names also indicate where they were purchased, like "Kroger's Spotted Leopard" or just something simple like "Aldi's #1"! I use these names when I publish their image on FB.
IDing ANY hybrid plant is next to impossible, I also hybridize Daylilies (Hemerocallis), the ones w/o a name in my gardens get a number or the name of the person who I got it from! Much easier that way!
Giving your plants a name can be fun, but one must always be sure to indicate that it is a garden name or a plant that "Looks Like" it could be so and so.
Hey, growing Orchids is a hobby, have fun with it!
