Need help identifying, pls!
So I'm working on my betta/orchid display and went out on the hunt for a second, smaller sized orchid. After much debate and thought, I ended up bringing home this 3" orchid. It's a noID, which was saddening, but I hoping you guys would be able to throw some ideas at me about what it is. It was on the clearance shelf, can you believe it? I hope it looks okay to my untrained eyes; do you guys see anything outright wrong with it before I get into repotting it?
Also, what in the world is that little growth popping out and up at the bottom? I thought it was a root at first but it's got little bits growing out from it ... do you know?

unfortunately its impossible to ID. there are hundreds maybe even thousands of hybrids made that all look the same. so even if it did look similar to something, odds are it isnt. its because mass producers make mericlones and dont keep the names in the pots then they get mericloned and so on. its tragic
none-the-less, its a beautiful plant, and looks like you got a bargain.
its just a root.

Thanks, guys. I knew it was a Phal, I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas about what it might be a little more specifically. I know it's impossible to positively identify a noID, I was just looking for things it looks similar to. I did a lot of digging around and found the Phal. Taida Salu Allisan (pictured) and that seems to be a similar fit, doesn't it? I'm excited I get to come up with a name for him though.

bnaz - It is a root that was damaged and now is sending out a new growth tip. As to the plant it self, I agree with the others, it is impossible to tell.

The problem with attaching a name like you've found is that there are many hybrids that look similar and there is no way to be sure you've got the correct name. If it ever goes in a show then the wrong name (or a name which is uncertain) can really cause problems.

Oh, I wouldn't show a noID! And I certainly would never tag an uncertain name to it and declare it official. This fella is just my pretty little mutt. I'll be "naming" him something totally different, I was just curious what similar-looking hybrids were named just as a point of reference and for fun's sake, you know? *shrug*

I'm afraid I can't help, I've seen ones like it but they have always been NoID's.
Like you I like to know what it's similar to even though I would never attach that name to it. I often pick a name for my own use which is similar to, or a variation on one it looks like but the name always includes the word NoID so that there is no ambiguity.
For example I have one I call 'NoID [Kaleidoscope]' which looks somewhat like Baldan's Kaleidoscope but I know isn't actually that.
Sorry I can't help with what this one looks like.
