Yay, that's great news! You really got lucky, often growers will not give any info about the names of their plants. Nice that it's a Noid no more

Since you are enjoying orchids and it is becomming an obsession, take the opportunity to begin purchasing orchids with names and leave the noid group to the 'throwawayable' customers. You'll discover a whole new high when you do!

I recently went to Pacific Orchid Expo and bought about 10 orchids or so. My criteria was: it must call out to me and it must have a name (plus reasonably priced). I was surprised to see orchids for sale at POE that didn't have a name.

I do have to say there are some pretty NoIDs out there that are hard to pass by. COSTCO tempts me all the time.

I really did get lucky but I think it helped that this orchid is SOGOs grand champion at 8th APOC, 2004 and has a distinctive diamond pattern. If it were one of their striped orchids I doubt it could have beeen accurately identified.

The cure for that is to take some of the bloomers to work and put them on your desk. I do that. Right now I have about 12 bloomers on my desk.

I have to say that semi/hydro makes for a clean pot at work. No dirt.

It's a great idea. I have considered that. But I'm not sure I can as my office is in the trailer part of the building and the temperature control turns off automatically after 6 pm. I'm thinking of measuring min and max temp in that office. Thanks for the suggestion.

How do you get any work done? I'd be staring at the plants all day!

I agree... I would never get work done that way! It's bad enough with OB just a few clicks away
