so, its really just another noid Phal, bought it at fred meyer. However, the reason i bought it is because it is very unusual (i think). The pedals are very thick and waxy, and they dont open all the way. just wanted to see if anyone has seen this before. here are some pics:

Gorgeous.

I have seen ones like this before on a stall at an orchid show. I think these are classed as 'peloric' which is where the petals mimic the lip to either a lesser or greater extent.

Some (but not all) peloric phals will stay partially closed like this. I can see in your second pic the hint of a marking inside the petal which indicates it's peloric (a sort of horn on the petal that should not be there)

Yes, if there is a horn on the petals then it is peloric (I was not sure if I had seen right).

I think they can be pretty cool.

Just a note on what I said above. Not ALL peloric's have the horn, but if it is there it is a sure sign they are peloric.

cool! Some plants will always bloom peloric, others may bloom peloric once, then revert to 'normal'.
