Default Stick mounted, but what am I?

Inherited this guy from a friend, bone-dry, and not doing so well. Several months in, got some new roots, but no blooms - not sure it's going to make it, but I'd love to identify if possible to help it get the care it needs..

Den kingianums will do just fine potted in a mix of 80% fine bark and 20% coarse perlite in a well draining pot. They are really tough!

They will do well on mounts too. I'd leave it as is if you can handle the watering of a mounted orchid. Also during the winter I have read that they like a dry cool rest which is best for blooming.

Default Thank you guys!

Really appreciate all the responses and the help. I'm going to leave it on the mount, since it's fairly well established there, and give it a nice cold winter rest, we shall see!

Tristan,

I put mine outside last fall for a cool down...I kept it outside until it got to the point of frost and or freezing temps.....my friend who gave it to me told me if I could kill it, he'd give me another one...lol. I didn't kill it, but several of the leaves did get some frost damage...they werent' so pretty looking but most of those leaves fell off. I had to bring the plant in around late November or early December since I knew the below freezing temps would kill it so that is all the cold it got. So come bloom time (around February), I only got one or two blooms. I'll keep trying with it! Good luck with yours!

Default Becca...

Thanks for the tips! Looks like a winter rest is def what this one wants...

I found this other thread, super informative -

Flowering Techniques for Dendrobium kingianum

How large is yours? It's hard to tell in the photos, but mine is rather small - most of the photos of this plant I've seen, it looks bigger.
