Default Orchid ID help please

This orchid plant was a single stem stuck in another potted plant I purchased several years ago. Last year was the first time it bloomed-- 3 blossoms. This year it has 100+ and I was wondering if anyone could help me ID it. Blooms are about 2 inches across and almost all of them opened at the same time.

That was fast! Thanks so much. I think the D. noble growth habit is more similar to my plant. Beautiful website... any suggestions for a good book for beginners?

Not really. There are some links here or book reviews. Under search you can find just about anything. You'll also find that when you google info on orchids you'll end up here a lot of times. Youtube is also a great source. Just type what you're looking for like "repotting" or whatever and you'll probably find it. I think my first book was "the South Florida orchid society presents AN INTRODUCTION TO ORCHIDS. So change south florida to where you live and you'll probably find a good book.

I don't think it is a parishii. parishii has a hairy lip and is deciduous. From the above pictures, does not seem so. Below is a link for a picture of parishii

Probably Dendrobium nobile. A lot of nobile hybrids look similar to the species and each other, but in flower shape and growth habit yours strongly resembles the several examples I've seen of the species. In any case you've got a really nice plant. Any fragrance to it?

If you're interested in books about the genus Dendrobium, there are a couple of good ones by Bill Lavarack et al, and Howard Wood (the Lavarack one is a lot more affordable). Charles and Margaret Baker also published an excellent culture book for Dendrobium species, though from the looks of it you've got the culture of this one down pat! Nice growing, Lori!

What a beautiful plant!

From single cane to that is a great accomplishment, good growing.
