Hi Wevans!
I have exactly like those. I suppose they're also NoIDs but let's wait for the others' feedback. What about this orchid? |
Ok cool, lets see.
|
The plants in your collection MAY LOOK like the same as what another has in his/her collection. These COULD BE mericlones, exact reproductions made by cloning a 'parent' plant. Without any info as to its origin, these may forever be NoIDs unless you do DNA testing. Trying to ID from photos is VERY difficult ...
NoIDs are very beautiful and just as enjoyable as plants with names. The problem arises when you want to show a plant (in AOS and other judging authorities, lineage MUST BE identified); or when hybridizing and subsequent registration, you need accurate identification of parentage. |

Here are more photos I want to share to you guys. The violet/white and pink/white are so beautiful, I kinda spend my mornings looking at them while drinking my coffee-- enjoying them until they last ;). Those are NoIDs, Im sure:rofl:.
During the course of my research, I found pictures of Den. Anna "green". Write-up says its a hybrid type and as I understood it, there are several kinds of Den. Anna. Does anyone know about this dens? Im curious because again, I have something that looks like that:biggrin: And then the other one was given to me by my neighbor who has a lot of orchids. She said its a "waling-waling". How do I take care of it properly? Shall wait for everyone's valuable inputs. Thanks a bunch! |
Den. Ann is a cross of Den. Diamond Head Beauty x Lady Constance. There is one award to 'Carmen Florence' AM/AOS given in 1955. Unfortunately there is no description or photo of the plant but as it has Den. biggibum and Den. phalaenopsis in its background, it should be grown similarly to the other phalaenopsis-types in your collection.
'Waling-waling' is a vandaceous orchid - vandas like bright light, intermediate temps, air movement around them all the time and high humidity. See other posts in vanda group for more details. Happy growing |
Gofa your orchids are beautiful and look healthy, you are going to love the vanda when it blooms for you. I do the same thing in the mornings drink my coffee on the patio and look at what orchids are in bloom.

Hi,
I have this Orchid just bloomed yesterday evening. The flowers look like Den. Jenkinsii but when I look at the plant and how the flowers stalk looks like. They are different. (trying to upload the photo but dunno how) so look at my avatar or my album. Thks |
Allen, your post has likely got lost on this old one. It is usually better to start your own new one as you are more likely to get responces that way.
I have copied your post to a new thread here... http://www.orchidboard.com/community...-help-pls.html Hopefully someone will be able to help you. |
